Join the ACLU of Kentucky Smart Justice Advocates to transform Kentucky's broken criminal legal system!
SJAs focus on a variety of criminal legal reform issues, including restoration of voting rights, persistent felony offender laws, clean slate and expungement policies, and other issues.
This month's Smart Justice Advocates meeting will include a values-based messaging workshop from the Clean Slate Initiative, with whom we are working this year to bring Clean Slate legislation that automates the record expungement process for eligible Kentuckians. This workshop offers advocates a tool and framework for developing messages that can appeal to audiences that span the political spectrum.
Participants will build skills in:
- Crafting messages that resonate with everyone, regardless of their political leanings.
- Finding common ground without compromising principles.
- Sparking meaningful dialogue from dinner tables to legislative chambers.
This workshop is for advocates who:
- Believe it is possible to change hearts and minds.
- Are committed to building relationships built on shared values.
- Want political debates to focus on solutions, not soundbites.
Participants will leave with:
- A practical framework for powerful messaging.
- Skills to navigate challenging conversations.
- Tools to turn political disagreements into productive collaborations.
