What is Give For Good Louisville?
Give for Good Louisville is the biggest day of local online giving. It is hosted by the Community Foundation of Louisville and supports more than 500 non-profits. Donating to the ACLU of Kentucky on September 14 will give your contribution the biggest impact. Gifts of all sizes go towards matching gifts from other ACLU supporters. The Community Foundation will also sponsor challenges for additional matching funds.
Why Give to ACLU-KY?
Our commonwealth is in a time of unprecedented attacks on civil liberties. This past year saw the fall of Roe, making Kentucky a forced birth state, as well as an unprecedented number of attacks against LGBTQIA+ Kentuckians—especially transgender youth.
We are freedom’s watchdog and work daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to all people by the Constitutions of the United States and Kentucky:
- Our right to freedom of speech, association, assembly, and the press;
- Our right to freedom of religion, supported by the strict separation of church and state;
- Our right to be treated fairly by the government whenever life, liberty or property is at stake;
- Our right to be free from unwarranted government intrusion into our personal and private affairs; and
- Our right to equal protection of the laws, regardless of race, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, disability or other such classifications.
We work to extend rights to those who traditionally have been denied them, including:
- Women,
- Black, Indigenous, and people of color,
- Immigrants,
- Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals,
- People who have experienced incarceration or entanglement with the justice system,
- People with disabilities,
- and young people.
We must unite, lift each other's voices, and fight back. Together, we can create a more perfect union.
