In 2020, at the height of the protests surrounding Breonna Taylor’s murder, we, along with our co-counsel at NAACP Legal Defense Fund and a NYC law firm, filed a lawsuit against LMPD for their use of chemical agents and crowd control weaponry against peaceful protesters.
Our litigation team would like to meet with members of the community to provide a general overview of the litigation and hear from community members about their desired policy changes in the event of a possible settlement or trial. Please note that no legal advice will be given at this meeting, nor does attending create an attorney-client relationship. This will be a public meeting, with no promise of confidentiality.
The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that any impact our litigation has on LMPD’s policies and practices around protests and demonstrations is reflective of the needs of the community and that any such potential policy change will help (not harm) communities of color, which are the most impacted by police violence.
