Dr. McDaniel, a native of Williamsburg, KY, received her PhD in history and Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. Her undergraduate degree is from Berea. She is co-editor of the award-winning Kentucky African American Encyclopedia, 2015. She is author of a forthcoming book on Kentucky’s Black club women in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, a work which investigates emale community activism prior to the modern Civil Rights Movement. She was a tenured full-professor and Director of Libraries when she retired from Kentucky State University.
