(Georgetown, KY) In an effort led by Georgetown Fairness and the Scott County Chapter of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, Georgetown recently considered an LGBTQ Fairness Ordinance, but failed to achieve the votes necessary to make it law. The second Georgetown Pride Community Cookout will continue to build on the visibility and support of last year's event, which drew hundreds of LGBTQ supporters. This year's picnic is in honor of Brittany Martin and Daryll "DJ" Burt II. Brittany had experienced housing discrimination as a member of the LGBTQ community in Georgetown--a factor that contributed to her suicide earlier this year, her mother testified before Georgetown City Council in favor of a Fairness Ordinance. Daryll "DJ" Burt II, from Georgetown, was a victim of the Pulse Nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida.
