A prescription drug addict was convicted of child abuse and sentenced to five years in prison for using drugs while pregnant. ACLU organized and filed an (amicus) brief on behalf of health professions also arguing conviction will deter other women in similair situations from recieving help and that child abuse laws can not be applied to fetuses.
