State & Local Immigration Enforcement: ACLU Immigrants Rights Project ACLU of Kentucky Continuing Legal Education Program

Topic: State and Local Immigration Enforcement: A Civil Rights Struggle for the 21st Century

Sponsors: The ACLU of Kentucky in conjunction with the Louisville Bar Association and the KY Chapter of the American Constitution Society
This CLE will focus on how local immigration enforcement efforts are eroding civil liberties and civil rights and will also look at the recent slate of state legislation requiring immigration enforcement including investigation of status, warrantless arrests, and alien registration and will examine the key legal issues implicated in these measures.
The program will go on to focus on local law enforcement agency practices resulting in civil rights violations including racial profiling and Fourth Amendment violations as well as the efforts to repeal the citizenship clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
