Re: Free Speech Rights of Students
Resolved without litigation
We represented a post-secondary school student attending a public university. After the student posted satirical comments about his instructors on a private, off-campus, listserv set up by other students, the school threatened to expel him from the program. The ACLU of Kentucky successfully negotiated a settlement, under which the school expunged all mention of the dispute from the student’s record and paid him an agreed sum of money.
