Not in Our Name Campaign – Stop the Baze Execution Print E-mail
Friday, August 24, 2007, 12:46 pm

Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher has set an execution date of September 25 for Ralph Baze.  We must act now to stop this execution and ask Gov. Fletcher to sentence Mr. Baze to a prison term of the Governor’s choosing.

The Kentucky Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, of which the ACLU of Kentucky is a member, is spearheading a petition campaign to gather 50,000 signatures to persuade the Governor that killing is wrong.

Click on this link, NOT IN OUR NAME PETITION.pdf , to download and print the petition. Please gather as many signatures as possible and return the form to: NOT IN OUR NAME CAMPAIGN, P.O. Box 3092, Louisville, KY, 40201.

Mr. Baze is not the only Kentuckian in danger of execution. The Supreme Court of Kentucky has issued other recent decisions upholding death sentences. There could be a bloodbath in our Commonwealth over the next several months as others run out of time. This effort on behalf of Ralph Baze will help build support for abolition of the death penalty now and in the future.
